This is a photo of NGC 3628 with the brightness adjusted so that a long plume associated with the galaxy is visible. Last year I shot a photo of the same area with a shorter exposure and when I saw this during processing of the photo I inquired on alt.binaries.pictures.astro if anybody was familiar with it and a few people sent links to various articles about it.
